smile, you are loved

It is that season where happy couples share intimate glances. Sales go up for candy and roses. Love is in the air. Then you have the single people who dread the season and cuddle up with some ice cream and a good movie.


Where do I fit in, as a 40 something single female? Neither of the above. I look forward to this day for many reasons, especially since a special person (my mommy) was born on this day. I look forward to this day as I do any other day.


I wake up with gratitude to see another day. I wake up smiling because I know that I am loved and look forward to show others they are loved. First of all, I am a child of God and there is no greater love. Next, I am truly blessed to have loving and supportive parents. I am sure there were many times, when I gave them moments to pause, but their love continues to fill me with an immeasurable joy.


Now here is the kicker. I think Whitney Houston sung it best, I do believe someone sung it before her, but all hail to the queen. Here it is “I found the greatest love of all inside of me.” I am truly happy for every woman and man who have the pleasure of experiencing a romantic love, but you have to love yourself. You are uniquely made and no one else possess your genetic code.


Of course, the love does not stop there. I've been blessed with great friends and family, who love me with all my flaws. Surround yourself with people who show you love and reciprocate the love in return. These are all reason that I smile. I smile because I am loved.
